During this group coaching day, I will show you how to use push shots and block shots to force errors from your opponent. Pushing and blocking doesn’t always mean ‘playing safe’. If you use these shots well, you can put your opponent under a lot of pressure. You will practise using short and long pushes, as well as slow and fast blocks. Essential skills for an all-round game.

What will you learn?
Here’s what to expect from this group coaching day…
10am-10.15am – Warm-up
10.15am-12.15pm – Pushing … Learn how to touch short, push aggressively, vary the amount of backspin and make the game very difficult for your opponent.
12.15pm-12.45 – Lunch & chat with Tom
12.45pm-2.45pm – Blocking … Learn how to return your opponent’s attacks with effective backhand and forehand blocks. You’ll practise safe blocks, aggressive blocks and using blocks to turn defence into attack.
2.45pm-3pm – Debrief / cool-down
Who is this coaching day suitable for?
This group coaching day is suitable for players at an intermediate (and above) standard. You should already be able to do a backspin serve, topspin serve, backhand push, forehand push, backhand drive and forehand drive.
This coaching day is not suitable for complete beginners. If you are unsure whether this coaching day is suitable for you, please email me with more information about your playing standard and I will advise.
How many participants will there be?
There will be a maximum of 10 players on this group coaching day. You will get the opportunity to play with different people throughout the day. You will also get plenty of individual feedback from myself when you do the training exercises. You will experience a positive coaching environment, joined by like-minded table tennis enthusiasts!
Venue
This group coaching day will take place at Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre, Queen Anne Terrace, Cambridge, CB1 1NA.
Kelsey Kerridge is approx 15 minute walk from Cambridge train station.
If travelling by car, there is a multi-story car park next to Kelsey Kerridge. Please note that there is a charge to use this car park. Full details here.

Visit Cambridge
If you live in another part of the UK (or another country), you could combine this group coaching day with a short weekend break to Cambridge.
