Hi, I am able to hit 3 or 4 good shots in a row when watching the ball onto my bat, but then I mess up the next shot because I fail to watch the ball. What strategies do you use to aid concentration…
Here’s a very simple exercise you can do…
1. Find a consistent practice partner
2. You topspin and your partner blocks
3. Play all your shots to your partner’s backhand – your partner can block the ball anywhere on your side
4. Give yourself a shot target (maybe start with 5)
5. When you can consistently hit 5 shots in a row, move onto 6, then 7, then 8, 9, 10
Having a target number of shots is important, as this will keep you focused, and will force you to play a little more controlled, focusing on good recovery after each shot. When you reach a stage where you can consistently hit 10 decent shots without error, you know that your concentration has greatly improved. This may take some time – months, rather than weeks – so you will need to keep repeating this exercise many, many times.
