In this video I compare the backhand flick technique of an amateur player (myself) with the backhand flick technique of a professional player (England No.1 Liam Pitchford).
Liam is able to generate a lot more speed and spin with his backhand flick technique, but how is he able to do this?
To help us work it out, I use some side-by-side slow motion analysis. By doing this we can see some clear differences in our technique. Liam uses his wrist in a completely different way to me, which I explain in more detail in the video.
There is also some footage of me trying to return Liam’s very fast backhand flicks.
